Seemingly simple and haphazard, the artist's work gradually reveals itself to be layered and complex.  Idiosyncratic yet harmonious compositions evoke both the failure of logical systems to solve modern problems, and the inherent optimism embedded within intuition  and spontaneity.

Unlike recent work, this was not painted without preparation or concept, but reference was made to naive drawings by children, I’ve been studying, then reinterpreted, relying on instinct and experience. This creates a combination of concept and spontaneity, resulting in an honest and heartfelt composition that still holds layered elements of balance, playful energy and imbalance combined. The process is all important, embracing the accidental marks.

The title refers to lyrics by an Australian rock band, “Amyl and the sniffers”, from which I interpret as, we always must persevere to overcome the worst that can be thrown at us in life.
