Ritu is a hospitality professional and has worked with iconic hotel brands over the years. It was more recently that she switched roles to become a full-time entrepreneur. It is in this new avatar that she made time, coupled with a great teacher in the award-winning artist MG Doddamani, to revisit her latent passion for Art. Ritu has had no formal education in art. She enjoys abstract and bold  representation of simple things in life & reflects, "For me my paintings are a reminder of celebrating the ordinary, a time to stop and smell the roses.” At this time Ritu is engaged in the creation of a whole series of works on ‘Doors–The Untold Stories’. She attempts to portray that behind ‘Doors’ often lies a whole unrevealed world - a world of struggle, opportunities, grief & more - an endless plethora of emotions. She believes that in the ordinary objects art allows her to go beyond the literal interpretation & her imagination helps her delve into stories that are not always apparent.

Ritu attempts to portray that behind ‘Doors’ often lies a whole unrevealed world - a world of struggle, opportunities, happiness, grief, curiosity and more - an endless plethora of emotions that doesn't often meet the eye. This circus horse wanders and peeks in curiously inside the barn...and the rest is to our imagination.

This is an artistic representation of the song ‘Day-o’ a Jamaican folk song also referred to as The Banana Boat Song. Having learnt it as a kid in school, it’s always fascinated me……..the language, choice of words, its vibrancy and the ‘happyness’ it conveys…I’ve tried to capture the same in this artistic creation. It is a work song, from the point of view of dock workers working the night shift loading bananas onto ships. The lyrics describe how daylight has come, their shift is over, and they want their work to be counted up (Tally me banana) so that they can go home. The Doors here are representative of home and the bananas depict the ‘happyness’ of seeing home!

This is part of a series - 'Doors Untold Stories', where doors from all over the world are centre of the composition which is a playground of vibrant colors, bold strokes, textures, techniques and some contemplation of the ordinary. Much like the C S Lewis quote “They open a door and enter a world”…..Ritu too, sees so much in and beyond these ordinary doors….she sees a world of untold stories!!
