Kunfayakun is a verse from Quran that means: Be and it is. In this painting one aims to capture the event of Abraha attacking Kaaba when Allah sends in droves of birds with pebbles in their beaks to destroy the army of elephants. A magical event that can only testify to the Kunfayakun!

Inspired by the following sufi verse by Hazrat Zaheen Shah Taji

Khaak say lala o gul sumbul o rehan niklay
Tum bhi parday say nikal about kay armaan niklay

Flowers of all sort came out of hiding in the soil
Oh Lord, you too lift the veil that we can see you


Inspired by a poem of Iftikhar Arif, famous Urdu poet who talks about how there are glimpses of the divine in most simplistic of things such as sea, clouds, clay, words, voice, fire, rocks and colour. 

Hu in Arabic means God. The painting uses the above metaphors to paint the appearance of God in all His elusiveness as well as presence. Just like the sound of the invisible wind. Hu
