I am fascinated by trees and the symbolism associated with the two. In India, plants occupy an important place in Hindu mythology. Sacred plants like Neem, Banyan, Pipal are revered for their auspicious or medicinal qualities or by association with a deity from the Hindu pantheon. For example, Kalpavriksha is a wish-fulfilling divine tree it came from Samudra Manthan (mythical episode of the churning of the ocean) with Lakshmi Devi. A form of nature worship, this motif was adapted by these religions as they became established in India.
