My name is Amy Diener and I am a New York artist living in Bangkok. I specialize in vibrant dot paintings inspired by the colors and patterns from my travel encounters. My artwork also draws influence from sacred geometry, the fibonacci sequence, and the cosmic world.

This painting, Thailand Gibbon is inspired by the need to bring awareness to endangered species, such as gibbons in Thailand. Fortunately, "WARF" the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand are helping with this issue by rehabilitating abused gibbons and then slowly reintroducing them back into the wild. Through the creation of this gibbon dot painting, my goal is to create awareness about the situation of Thai gibbons, and the ways in which we can help ensure these beautiful creatures continue to live on! By taking tourist photos with gibbons, you are harming the gibbon population - so please don't feed into the problem!

Animals

Purple Shine was inspired by experiencing the flashy, vibrant gemstones in Bangkok's jewelry trade center. This center is a haven for gem lovers and dealers. I went inside to look for products to paint on for my hand-painted jewelry line. I came across an entire storefront selling only amethyst gemstones. I was mesmerized by the shiny, purple precious stones - they were so beautiful! From shades of lavender to violet, the stone's healing properties amazed me. The stone is linked to the crown chakra, helping cleanse the mind and removing it of negative thoughts and judgments. From the saturated beauty to the therapeutic attributes, I just knew I had to create a painting using their colors!

Spirituality

Touch Me contains layers upon layers of dots created with only acrylic paint. I am hoping to achieve a three dimensional quality which encourages the physical sensation of touch. My goal is to have this sensation ignite excited and uplifting emotional reactions.

Abstract

This original painting, Meow Meow is one of my newest members of my animal dot collection. I've been a cat lover for as long as I can remember. I love these cute and cuddly fur balls. I frequently go to the cat cafes and play and pet the kitties! I don't have a cat of my own because honestly I'm afraid the kitty will scratch my paintings! Maybe one day I'll find my perfect fur lover who will keep his paws to himself! For my viewers, what is your favorite animal? What animals do you act as a mother or father to? How does this make you feel?

This painting, Blue Chakra is inspired by the symmetrical and harmonious fibonacci sequence and sacred geometry. It is the observation of the patterns, proportions, and structures of nature that my ideas are generated from. I chose the color blue because this hue, identified as the throat chakra creates a soothing, calming, and healing energy. My hope is that through viewing this painting, you will feel tranquil and at peace. The mandala pattern can also serve as a visual guide for mediation practices.

Contemporary

Purple Tunnel was inspired by the fibonacci sequence, illustrating a perfect harmony. My interest in observing spiral pattern that exist in nature such as sunflowers, succulents, pinecones, and galaxies sparked my artwork. My painting contains an optical illusion effect through the scale and pattern of the dots. My goal is to mesmerize your mind, body, and spirit by bringing you through a Purple Tunnel, otherwise known as a spiritual journey.

Bloom was inspired by the blooming period of a rose flower. My goal is to convey that the beauty of nature is both delicate and temporary, and we should enjoy their wonderful blooming states while it lasts. This painting was created in my in between stage - between my signature brush strokes and my signature dots.

Nature

Stars was inspired by the meaning behind the color pink for me, bringing back fond memories of childhood.

Geometric

Hydrangeas was inspired by my travel encounters in New Zealand's South Island. The colours are based off the gorgeous hydrangea flowers I interacted with on a beautiful hike in NZ. They bloom in shades of blue, purple, pink, green and therefore the colours in my painting are based off their colour combinations.

Lupins was inspired by my travel encounters in New Zealand's South Island. Out of all the countries I have traveled to in the world, I consider New Zealand to have the most beautiful, stunning landscapes. Driving for miles on an open road in the foothills of Wanaka, we stumbled upon gorgeous purple lupins set underneath a beautiful blue sky. Lupins only have their peak bloom period for about 5 weeks each year, and we were were lucky to have experienced them during that time (christmas time). Technically, lupins are considered weeds, but they definitely are the most beautiful weeds I have ever seen. I was so moved by this experience, I decided to make a few paintings inspired by their color palette!
