Both my mother and father are professional artist, but I never seriously considered becoming an artist until I was 18. Growing up I didn't think being an artist was a real job. Most of my friends parents were doctors and lawyers. Now I look back and realize how lucky I was to have a childhood consisting of bohemian treks around Australia with my parents and brother. I completed my first still life oil painting at the age of 9 on my mothers easel. Today I am proud to say that I have spent the last 30 years developing my own style and living from my art.
Whether I paint a still life, an abstract, a portrait or a cityscape, transformation is the biggest rule of my creative process: the altering of reality so that my expression can exist as something new altogether.
As a painter I am attracted to common objects, abstract arrangements of light, shape, and colour.
I aim to travel every year to learn more about art and be inspired by places, people or scenes I only dreamed about.

As a contemporary artist my art merges the traditional with the modern, transformation is the biggest rule of my creative process: I change and evolve as a person and consequently so does my art. Oils have always been my preferred medium for my finely executed still life paintings. I try to impart a sense of harmony and balance evoking in the viewer a feeling of tranquility and happiness. Ultimately something new and vibrant that people can live with and look at with increasing pleasure.

Undoubtedly one of the coolest places to visit. Inspired by a trip to New York, Capturing the everyday life of new yorkers. Working from sketches done on location, personal photos and mental notes to later be recomposed in unique views and sceneries.
“ My intention is to bring together reality and imaginary using the architecture and cityscape of New York. Capturing the spontaneity of New York street life with some degree of precision was a challenge. Anyone can take a photo. So to create my vision I take a sign from here, a taxi from there and compose a new angle ”.

Monyou means traditional geometric or botanical patterns in Japanese, which have been used for thousands of years on clothing and textiles. This is a painting of 6 bowls which are part of the Monyou Collection. I bought my first set of Monyou bowls online this year and was only going to use them for eating but then I saw them stacked up and thought of painting just the bowls. I so often paint still life compositions with Chinese ginger jars or vases in amongst a bouquet of flowers, wine bottles and fruit. This time I wanted to do a series with just the bowls and that is how this series came about. It is very simple in composition yet lots of detail in the painting itself. I used acrylic as a base then worked in oils to give it the true colours and feel of blue and white china ware. It measures 60x60cm and is ready to hang on your wall. It can be framed at an additional cost.
