This painting was inspired by the contemporary architecture of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. I was particularly interested in its geometric form. Looking up from below, I captured a close-up view of one of the vertical forms directly underneath the curved boat shaped form.

Abstract

Many artists have explored shaped canvases, diptych and triptych works. Rather than go down the same line, I decided to produce this painting with two distinct shapes on the one stretched canvas. By using a wide border, the illusion of a structural framework infers a portal through which you can see the shifting colors of the ocean depths.

This painting was inspired by a visit I made to the island of Santorini, which is famous for its sunsets. People gather at the end of the island to view the sun dipping below the waters of the southern Aegean Sea. The atmosphere was quite hazy. The sun, having dipped below the horizon, provided its last hoorah with its rays reflecting from the hazy atmosphere.

An acrylic on canvas painting, this work is an explosion of color and will lift the ambiance of any room. In my painting, I have explored the use of a geometric framework to develop an illusion of depth and the concept of looking and falling through a portal. I have used spray techniques with acrylic and acrylic mediums rather than water to mix a fluid consistency.

This painting is based on a building in Singapore. I was interested in the way the architect had utilized different materials in the outside cladding of the building. In 2018, I began to explore ways to minimize architectural structures and focus on shape, space and line.

This painting is based on Singapore's contemporary architecture

The amazing Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore with its curves and boat-like structure crossing over towering column and linear exterior window treatment inspired me to create this painting. The work is framed and ready to hang.

This painting was influenced by contemporary architecture in Singapore. I have taken a minimalist approach to capturing the glass reflections and concrete form work.
